IATSE 798 Uses eMembership Member App to Streamline Crew Staffing Process
Problem
The members of IATSE 798 are make-up artists and hair stylists who are frequently on the set and away from their business or home office. When a new position becomes available on a job, working members use the “availability list” on the local’s website to contact other qualified members. But without ready access to a computer on the set, this critical staffing function was nearly impossible.
Solution
IATSE 798 deployed the eMembership Mobile App. Members can now use their phones to report their own availability, as well as search the list for other available members. All data is real-time, connecting directly to eMembership. In addition, members can use the app to check contracts, post work, find other members, and pay dues.
Result
The member-to-member staffing function of Local 798 has been dramatically streamlined, resulting in faster job placement; this has proven better for the members, and better for the productions. Of course, the other features of the app have also been enormously beneficial, especially the ability to pay dues online, which has significantly reduced payment delinquency.
