One platform for the full
school employee union landscape

No two school employee unions are identical. Some represent only certificated teachers. Others combine teachers, paraprofessionals, and education support staff in the same membership. Dues structures vary by district payroll system, employer relationships span dozens of campuses, and many of your members hold roles that no generic membership software anticipated. eMembership is configured during a structured Discovery Project to match the way your specific local operates, whether you serve one bargaining unit or several.

Configured for the people your local represents

Whether your local represents one of these groups or all three together, eMembership handles the differences without forcing them into a single template.
Teachers and Faculty
Certificated staff
Pre-K, K-12, and higher education educators. From classroom teachers and professors to librarians, counselors, and instructional coaches.
  • Multi-district and multi-campus member relationships
  • Step-and-lane salary tracking for dues calculation
  • Tenure status, certifications, and continuing education records
Paraprofessionals
Classroom and student support
Classroom aides, instructional assistants, special education paraprofessionals, and student support staff working alongside certificated educators.
  • Hourly and part-time member tracking
  • Distinct dues structures from certificated bargaining units
  • Substitute and on-call assignment data
Education Support Staff
Operations, transport, food, office
Custodians, food service workers, transportation staff, secretaries, and technology staff who keep districts and campuses running.
  • Worksite-based assignment and shift tracking
  • Master contracts spanning many districts or campuses
  • High-turnover member onboarding and offboarding
We replaced a patchwork of spreadsheets and a legacy database with eMembership across our teachers and education support staff bargaining units. Self-service alone has dramatically cut down on the routine calls coming into the office.

Questions from
educator locals like yours

Is eMembership built for school employee unions?
Yes. eMembership is built for school employee unions that represent teachers, paraprofessionals, and education support staff across K-12 districts and higher education campuses. School employee unions are the platform's second-largest segment after public-sector locals. Each implementation is configured during a structured Discovery Project so your local's specific bargaining units, dues structures, employer relationships, and reporting requirements drive how the system is set up.
Can eMembership handle multiple bargaining units in the same local?
Yes. Many educator unions represent teachers in one bargaining unit, paraprofessionals in another, and education support staff in a third, sometimes across multiple districts. eMembership tracks each member's bargaining unit, building or site, classification, and dues structure separately, so reports and processes for each unit can be run independently or rolled up to the local.
How does eMembership work with school district payroll for dues collection?
eMembership supports checkoff dues remitted by district payroll, direct pay from member bank accounts and cards, and online payments through the Member Web Portal. The Employer Payments and Billing module handles district remittances, reconciles them against expected dues by member, and flags discrepancies. Both ACH and check remittances are supported.
Does eMembership support legislative action and political organizing?
Yes. The Communications module sends targeted email and SMS at scale for legislative campaigns, contract talks, and political action. The Surveys and Votes module runs political assessments, member surveys, and ratification ballots. Organizing and Turf Cutting provides map-based tools for the kind of field work many educator unions run during contract years and election cycles.
Do members get a self-service portal and a mobile app?
Yes. The Member Web Portal lets educators and support staff update contact information, pay dues, view contracts, file grievances, sign up for events, and access documents from any browser. The native iOS and Android Labor Union App extends the same functions to phones, with push notifications. All member-side updates flow into the same database staff use.
How does a local transition from its current system to eMembership?
Implementation begins with a Discovery Project that documents your current systems, bargaining units, dues rules, and reporting needs. Data migration is included whether you are moving from spreadsheets, MemberTrak, UnionWare, or another system, and the migration runs in a parallel preview environment so your team validates every record before going live. US-based support handles training and post-launch issues.
